Job Description

We are looking for a skilled HVAC Control Technician with a strong background in boilers, chillers, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, with both electronic and pneumatic controls, you will operate, maintain and program automation systems. Using a web-based BAS program on all sites to ensure HVAC equipment is operated efficiently and to create a comfortable environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Install basic wiring and controls.
  2. Complete and close out Work Orders, enter time worked and materials used.
  3. Maintain sensors, thermostats, controllers, valves, actuators, and other HVAC control-related equipment.
  4. Assist other HVAC Control Technicians.
  5. Install controllers and perform basic programming.
  6. Will work closely with outside mechanical engineers to ensure either new or retrofitted equipment is installed correctly and will tie back to our control system.
  7. Will maintain the integrity of the control system and its components documented through the preventative maintenance program.
  8. Maintain system backups and records.
  9. Assist with Backups of the BAS.
  10. Install field controllers and program them.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. A driver’s license is essential.
  2. Valid passport.
  3. Matric / N2.
  4. Trade certificate in HVAC or Instrumentation trade or similar or equivalent.
  5. Availability to work after hours, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by customer needs.
  6. Physical fitness is essential, with the ability to work at heights.
  7. Follow the company code of conduct, procedures, and safety rules.
  8. Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Experience & Knowledge:

  1. 3-4 years plus experience with Building automation HVAC systems.
  2. Knowledge of electric controls and DDC’s.
  3. Understand basic HVAC operation, e.g. boilers, chillers, pumps and fan systems.
  4. Needs to be familiar with a preventative maintenance and work order system and understand the importance of its use.
  5. Must have worked on and have knowledge of electronic and pneumatic controls, calibration, and proper use of test equipment to verify performance.
  6. Must be able to install controllers and perform basic programming.
  7. Perform basic programming.
  8. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform general administrative duties, including managing Excel spreadsheets, updating quotes, and reconciling invoices.
  2. Capture quotes and invoices using Pastel.
  3. Liaise with the Director regarding customer invoices and job cards.
  4. Manage and organise documents, records, and data efficiently.
  5. Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  6. Coordinate deliveries from the freight department on Pastel.
  7. Handle incoming and outgoing mail for the freight department.
  8. Provide support to Directors and other departments as needed.
  9. Maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Matric (Grade 12).
  2. Some Financial qualification or diploma (Sound understanding of basic accounting practices and principles).
  3. Proficiency in Excel.
  4. Minimum of 3 years of experience with Pastel.
  5. Proficiency in Office 365.
  6. At least 5 years of experience in an administrative environment.
  7. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the logistics department.
