Job Description
We are looking for a skilled HVAC Control Technician with a strong background in boilers, chillers, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, with both electronic and pneumatic controls, you will operate, maintain and program automation systems. Using a web-based BAS program on all sites to ensure HVAC equipment is operated efficiently and to create a comfortable environment.
Responsibilities:
- Install basic wiring and controls.
- Complete and close out Work Orders, enter time worked and materials used.
- Maintain sensors, thermostats, controllers, valves, actuators, and other HVAC control-related equipment.
- Assist other HVAC Control Technicians.
- Install controllers and perform basic programming.
- Will work closely with outside mechanical engineers to ensure either new or retrofitted equipment is installed correctly and will tie back to our control system.
- Will maintain the integrity of the control system and its components documented through the preventative maintenance program.
- Maintain system backups and records.
- Assist with Backups of the BAS.
- Install field controllers and program them.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- A driver’s license is essential.
- Valid passport.
- Matric / N2.
- Trade certificate in HVAC or Instrumentation trade or similar or equivalent.
- Availability to work after hours, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by customer needs.
- Physical fitness is essential, with the ability to work at heights.
- Follow the company code of conduct, procedures, and safety rules.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Experience & Knowledge:
- 3-4 years plus experience with Building automation HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of electric controls and DDC’s.
- Understand basic HVAC operation, e.g. boilers, chillers, pumps and fan systems.
- Needs to be familiar with a preventative maintenance and work order system and understand the importance of its use.
- Must have worked on and have knowledge of electronic and pneumatic controls, calibration, and proper use of test equipment to verify performance.
- Must be able to install controllers and perform basic programming.
- Perform basic programming.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
